What Other Professionals Say About Preventing and Dealing With Back Pain!
Before I start my discussion about the importance of Ergonomic Office and Gaming Chairs, here are a few ideas for preventing and dealing with #lowerbackpain.
Today's Doctors are armed with better studies and information. They can assist with providing relief but also PREVENTION!
Here are 7 suggestions from WebMD:
1. Get more Exercise - "Experts now know that regular physical activity can help ease inflammation and muscle tension." See if yoga and/or tai chi work for you. Remember - Always stretch before starting activities!
2. Watch your weight - "Extra pounds, especially in your midsection, can make back pain worse by shifting your center of gravity and putting strain on your lower back."
3. If you smoke, stop - "Smoking restricts the flow of nutrient-containing blood to spinal discs, so smokers are especially vulnerable to back pain."
4. Sleep well - "If you’re prone to back pain, talk with your doctor about the best sleeping position." See what position works for you! Consider a new mattress that supports your back!
6. Start with your seat - "The best chair for preventing back pain is one with a straight back or low-back support."
7. Check your desk - "To avoid straining your neck and eyes"
Note - For the remainder of this post, I'll discuss how you can get the best office/gaming chair that is #GoodForYourBack & Comfortable.

OK -- My first questions were -- How much is this going to cost me?
Why are these chairs so expensive? Here's what I found out!
That old saying “You get what you pay for” applies to office chairs.
Lifesavvy tells us, "The high-end models aren’t just designed to be comfortable and supportive—they’re also meant to last a long time. The idea is you buy one chair that’ll last for decades.
These chairs often have impressive warranties, too. This means you can have them repaired at no cost for years. Even after the warranty expires, you can still get one of these chairs repaired, rather than buying a new one."
The Next Question - What kind of chair should I buy? I new there were several styles of office chairs!
When I asked a friend with a well designed home office, I received a surprise answer. He said a "Gaming Chair! I said what is the difference between a #gamingchair and an office chair?
To help with this question I was referred to gamesradar+
-- They wrote - "Choosing a gaming chair vs an office chair is a big decision, but one you shouldn't take lightly. Working from home or hunkering down for those long gaming sessions means you'll be spending a lot of time perched on the seat of your choice, and picking the right one not only feels so much better but can also avoid longer term back and neck problems."
A Gaming Chair - is designed "with a tall winged back, bucket seat 
and raised seat edges. You'll often usually find lumbar and head support cushions included, with armrests that can be adjusted in a
minimum of three directions. You'll also find that gaming chairs can recline significantly further than office chairs, and offer rocking and tilt locks as well."
An Office Chair - "An office chair tones thingsdown considerably. You'll find a flat cushion with a wingless back, often with fixed lumbar support built in. Armrests will generally only move up and
down, and reclines will be limited with more restrictive tilt locks."
Having never heard of Gaming Chairs, I was still not convinced that they would be a better choice. As I read on, Gamesradar+ changed my thinking! Here's what they had to say -
Gaming Chairs - "... are built to withstand longer use, which means they often employ materials that more users find comfortable. You're more likely to find memory foam seat cushions in the starting price category, with padding all the way up the back and on the armrests as well."
Office chairs - "... often rely on a thinner material to keep their costs down, unless you get particularly pricey, which means you'll need to take more frequent breaks over the course of your session."
One Caution - gamesradar+ noted - "... that picking out the chair with the right dimensions for you is always recommended for the best ergonomics." Gaming chairs tend to be larger to be more comfortable for people of different sizes. The gaming chairs, however my not fit smaller spaces!
How about the difference in ergonomics?
According to gamesradar+, "The ergonomics of your frame is one of the most important factors in the gaming chair vs office chair debate. Ergonomics specifically relates to how much you can adjust your setup so that you can find the perfect angles and heights for your frame or activity."
Gaming Chairs, "... are built with this personalization at the forefront of their design. Lumbar and headrest support pillows are often detachable and height adjustable, providing tailored relief for lower back pain during prolonged sitting periods."
Office Chairs - "To find similar lumbar support on an office chair you'll need to spend far more than you would on a gaming chair. That said, the quality of the materials and support will then be improved considerably as well."
Wrapping up the ergonomics, gamesradar+ explains, "A gaming chair is built to be fully customizable, with even budget models offering excellent adjustment controls. From armrests to recline, you can personalize pretty much any part of your experience with these chairs, whereas office chairs are far more limited, particularly in their lumbar support. Some gaming chairs are still being produced with a raised lip at the edge of the seat, though, which isn't as ergonomic as a flat cushion found on office chairs."
How About The Aesthetics?
gamesradar+ continues, "One of the biggest questions in the gaming chair vs office chair debate is whether or not the aesthetic of the former really fits with the needs of most of today's chair buyers. With more of us searching for a comfortable working from home seat, tastes are expanding..."
Gaming Chairs - The aesthetics of a standard gaming chair won't appeal to everyone, but if you're after a chair for streaming then the tall headrest and branded cushions are par for the course."
Office Chairs - "... are usually very subtle, with simple black, gray, or white color designs and a minimal structure that prioritizes function over form. That means they sit well in a much wider range of environments..."
Wrapping up about the aesthetics - Office chairs are the winner
"While many do love the racer back style of the quintessential gaming chair, the office chair caters to a much wider range of tastes and use cases. The flexibility of a more subtle design means you'll be able to park your office chair in any room and still have it blend neatly with your surroundings..."
My Decision - An Ergonomic Gaming Chair for My Home Office - The Aeron by The Herman Miller

Concluding - When you decide it's time to relieve your back pain and make your work and gaming time more comfortable, I suggest that your choice of a chair be made on support and comfort - the chair itself is a Prudent Investment!
